ROOTS REGGAE EVOLUTION (RRE)
CELEBRATING THE ROOTS REGGAE CULTURAL LEGACY OF LITTLE JAMAICA
LIVE ROOTS REGGAE, STORYTELLING, AND CULTURAL EXCHANGE
RRE is a culturally anchored heritage platform dedicated to the activation, preservation, and
intergenerational transmission of roots reggae cultural heritage, with a focused commitment to
sustaining the living cultural continuity and legacy of Little Jamaica.
THE COMMUNITY CREATED THE FOUNDATION
Roots Reggae Evolution recognizes the people, musicians, entrepreneurs, cultural workers and
community builders whose work created the cultural foundation of Little Jamaica.
Recognition is not appropriation. Stewardship is not ownership. And participation is not
something that can simply be purchased
RRE EVOLUTION EXHIBIT / HISTORY
RRE places the co-creators themselves at the centre of their cultural history through their voices, performances, photographs, stories and lived experience.
THE RECORD IS NOT THE CREATION
Historical records, photographs, recordings, publications, maps and institutional documents helpus understand the evolution of Little Jamaica. But the record did not create the culture. The culture was created through the lives, work, relationships, creativity and enterprise of the community itself.
